A Summer-Coming

The week that came and went has been a complete blur, except the few lunches I took outside the garden. Except for today, the entire week has been nothing but beautiful sunshine. Of course the day I picked to trumpet about the glorious weather, it rained.

Nevertheless, even the power dog enjoys the summer-coming weather, occasionally staring out the window wishing he is outside and is really happy when outside.

Looked at some old food magazines to plan the week’s meals including this Bill Granger lunch recipe of soft boiled eggs with blanched asparagus, cooked tiger prawns, anchovies and avocado with dressing of lemon, dijon mustard and olive oil. The golden eggplants is a part of a Sicilian-style dish that, despite impressed, will never make again. Let’s just say that I’m not a big fan of dish with tomato-based sauce.

Yesterday, I reorganized my working space, got a decent-sized board to pin-up some cut outs from magazines for inspiration. I’m sure there’s a proper name for this sort of board but for the time being, I’ll call it my muse board. Also sorted out some old clothes that will eventually be recycled and used to make some stuff. This week, I didn’t get a chance to make any bags, or anything else - which is rather disappointing. I have an idea for a bag that I saw in an interior designs book. Excitedly, I set aside the matching fabrics, ribbons, buttons and such. Alas, I neglected to set aside some time to work on it. Sheesh.

Later at night, M, J, N & I went out for dinner at El Torogoz, a cozy little family-run El Salvadoran restaurant at Manuka. As usual, we had a great time catching up.
