Music: Seal Soul

This is the story of a girl and Seal’s Soul.

Girl went to CD store.
Girl heard some soulful songs over the PA system.
Girl wanted to find out who the singer was.
Girl couldn’t find anyone around to ask.
Girl continued browsing around the store.
Girl came upon Seal’s Soul.
Girl thought the CD looked good.
Girl picked up the CD.
Girl came upon another girl in the store.
Girl asked the other girl about the singer over the PA system.
The other girl showed girl Seal’s Soul.
Omen, coincidence or serendipity. Whatever you call it, girl is happy.

The only song of Seal that I’m familiar with is Kiss from a Rose. It was truly a case of coincidence when I was browsing from aisle to aisle, looking for CDs to buy, courtesy of the gift vouchers I received for birthday and Christmas. It was a gamble when I picked up this CD (based solely on Kiss from a Rose) and it turns out to be a rather good return. It’s just as the CD title said; it’s Seal Soul. Most of the songs are quite a classic, including Sam Cooke’s A Change is Gonna Come, Ann Pebbles’ I Can’t Stand The Rain, Simply Red’s If You Don’t Know Me By Now and Al Green’s I’m Still In Love With You. If you are not in a hurry and need a little bit of soul in your life, I think it an album worth checking out.

A Faulty Manufacturing

Do you know that feeling? When your heart aches, for whatever reason, you cower into a corner and fold your limbs closer to your heart. Your body moves involuntarily into a fetal position in an attempt to prevent the million pieces of your broken heart seeping out from a supposed magical shell. The shell that is suppose to make you happy, make you laugh and even lift you up to cloud nine. For a while, you ask what every broken hearted ones asked; has someone invented an elixir to mend a broken heart yet?

There is. There is. It’s called music. A song or two that resonate with the lowest or the highest point of your life. It’s that one song that can cure-all. That song which will stay on your playlist on a repeat mode. It’s the song that you need to make you bleed a flood of tears and emotions. It’s the song that willingly roll down the steepest hill with you and walk up the hill with you again. The song that will accompany you when you sweep up the shattered heart. Sometimes, when the song is not looking, you quietly swept the pieces under the carpet. It’s not there for anyone to see. But it’s there.

It’s the song that, after you’re cured, might not want to listen again. Until your heart’s broken again. Then the cycle begins.

What’s your song (or songs)? I would like to know. Please leave a comment, with the song title and artist. I will heart you (not the sort that would lead to a heart break).
